Role

Motion Designer

As part of a digital awareness campaign for Société Générale, I collaborated with Addictive Live Marketing to create a short 2D animated video. The goal was to educate clients on the new SMS security code process that customers would receive when collecting their new bank cards.

With digital fraud and data privacy becoming serious concerns, the bank wanted to ensure that users not only understood the procedure but also took it seriously — all without overwhelming them with technical jargon.

Brief & Objectives

The brief was clear:
Create a simple, engaging, and informative animation that explains:

  • How the SMS security code system works
  • What steps the customer must take at the bank
  • Why keeping the code private and secure is crucial

The tone needed to strike a balance between reassuring and instructional, while also feeling friendly and on-brand with Société Générale’s communication style.

Concept & Storytelling

To make the information more relatable, we developed a short narrative centered around Selma, a fictional customer visiting her local bank branch. Upon arrival, she is greeted by a receptionist who kindly walks her through the steps of collecting and activating her card using the SMS code received on her phone.

The animation includes close-up visuals of the mobile notification, a simplified user interface, and expressive character animation that brings human warmth to a digital topic. We made sure that each visual step aligned with the real-life process the client would experience.

The storyline also included subtle security tips, reminding viewers to never share their code and to be aware of phishing attempts or data breaches.

Design & Animation Process

As the motion designer, I was responsible for the full animation pipeline:

  • Designing smooth transitions and clean visual layouts

  • Animating the characters, gestures, and UI elements

  • Syncing movements with the voice-over narration

  • Keeping timing and pacing user-friendly and fluid

I worked entirely in Adobe After Effects, using layered compositions to separate motion and allow for precise adjustments during feedback rounds with both the agency and the client.

Final Outcome

The final video served as a key asset in Société Générale’s in-branch and digital communication materials. It was deployed in waiting areas and internal trainings, helping customers understand and trust the SMS security process more easily.

The client appreciated the clarity, visual storytelling, and light tone that made a sensitive topic feel accessible without diminishing its importance.

Conclusion

This project was a great example of how 2D motion design can make complex information approachable, while also reinforcing a brand’s commitment to security and user experience. It also reinforced my belief in the power of animated storytelling to simplify digital procedures and build customer trust.
